Punta Carretas is Montevideo's upscale peninsula barrio: diplomatic residences and golf-club frontage blend with the Faro de Punta Carretas lighthouse headland and one of the city's main leisure anchors, Punta Carretas Shopping (built around the former penitentiary), all along the Rambla. Premium-priced with limited new supply.
